How long is the drive from Salzburg to Hallstatt?
About 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes each way. Most of our tours break up the drive with a stop at a lake such as Fuschlsee, Wolfgangsee or Mondsee.
How much time do we get in Hallstatt?
Usually 2.5 to 3 hours of free time, enough for the Market Square, the lakeside lanes, the postcard viewpoint and lunch. Your guide shows you the best spots first.
Is a private tour expensive compared with a bus tour?
For couples it costs more; for families and groups it is often similar. On St. Gilgen & Hallstatt, for example, a group of 4 pays €615 in total, about €154 each, with hotel pickup, no waiting for strangers and your own guide.
Can we visit the Skywalk or the salt mine?
Yes. Choose "Hallstatt Salt Mine & Skywalk" or one of the Skywalk tours; the funicular, Skywalk and salt mine tickets are then included for every guest.
Is Hallstatt very crowded?
Around midday it can be. Starting early and doing the lake stops on the way gets you there before or after the coach groups, and your guide knows the quieter corners.
Where do you pick us up?
At your hotel, holiday flat or any address in Salzburg at the start time you choose (tours from the ski resorts, Linz or Munich start at your accommodation there). Pickup from Salzburg Airport or the main station is possible on request, just tell us when you book.
How do I book and pay?
Pick a tour, a date and the number of guests and send a booking request. There is nothing to pay at that point. We check availability and confirm by email or WhatsApp, usually within a few hours, and then send you the payment details. Your booking is fixed once we have confirmed it.
Can I cancel?
Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time. Later cancellations and no-shows are charged in full. If we have to cancel, for example because of dangerous road conditions, you get a full refund.
